Turn up the love
Saturday was the day Sugarplum Fairy were going to play, but it was also the day Kristian was going to hold a speech about his cancer and the day Carl among others were going to play a tribute to The Band.

It's not the actual P&L speech I've uploaded, but it's the same manuscript (the one at the festival was a bit longer though). Very much worth listening to!Before they started playing 'You can't kill rock'n' roll', Victor was talking about Kristian and talked about how he (Kristian) didn't deserved getting cancer. He then renamed 'You can't kill rock'n' roll' You can't kill Kristian Gidlund. You can listen to it above (in Swedish). Really nice gesture, don't you think?
I was so glad to see Kristian back on stage again, looking healthy and happy. That's where he belongs! People in the crowd were screaming his name throughout the gig.
Kristian and Victor. They played the new song 'Holiday' by the way, love that song!Sugarplum playing 'Sweet Jackie', which is my favourite Sugarplum song together with 'Caroline'. They never play Caroline live though, which is a shame! I'm desperate to hear that song live haha.
'Sweet Jackie' on the other hand, has been played every year at the Peace & Love festival - even last year when Sugarplum didn't play at the festival due to Kristian's illness. No matter how the gig turn out, I will love every second of it - Kristian is back on the drums again, and a year ago we didn't know if he would ever be. This "no matter how the gig turn out" wasn't necessary. Sugarplum, the furious little pop band, are always brilliant during their Peace & Love gigs in Borlänge.
But today it will feel special, because Kristian Gidlund is back on track again, and that is a miracle. A few years back, he got the cruel and unfair diagnose stomach cancer, a diagnose young people never get. And last year he was so sick that he couldn't attend the festival that is the absolute highlight of the year in his hometown.
Instead, Victor Norén, one of the singers, walked around backstage and recorded greetings to his friend who was in hospital.
It felt awful that he had to be there while everyone else was partying and had fun watching Bob Dylan play on the main stage - and even more awful it felt to not know whether we would ever get to see that charming smile behind Haga Chruch, where there epicenter of Peace & Love is, again. But after a heroic fight of which we could follow on his blog ikroppenmin.blogspot.com, the best and most heartbeaking Swedish blog ever written - Kristian is back and more dynamic than ever,
He writes - brilliantly - in the new magazine Miss World, he creates music and he makes sure no one will ever forget the afterparties at Peace & Love. And today we're going to watch him play with his best friends on the stage of Eldorado. It will be a wonderful moment. I myself am thus in Sweden on summer holidays and am walking down the streets I know just as well as the lines in my own hand, yet do not reognize at all right now. Borlänge was during my childhood pretty much a dead town, now one big bacchanal during Peace & Love, and you can't get used to that experience. The lineup of this year's festival has been described as the most boring one in a while, but I don't know - My Morning Jacket, Israel Nash Gripka and Thåströ for example all feels like something you don't want to miss out on.
On the other hand, it doesn't matter to me - it is the transformation of Borlänge that makes me come back each year."
